Computer Labs and Thaki Toolkit
Beginning in October 2023, with assistance from Thaki, Terra launched a new model of integrating technology into the educational program by setting up and utilizing two computer labs in its facilities.
These computer labs serve as focal points for teaching groups of students various computer skills, usually led by a qualified computer teacher. Furthermore, teachers in the classroom take advantage of the labs to implement the Thaki toolkit, which consists of digital modules that address Math and Science topics, as well as to engage in research or create technology-related projects with their pupils. Technology experts also make use of the computer labs for professional development sessions, teaching educators about different facets of computer usage within learning environments.
Tabshoura Online Learning Initiative
Starting in April 2024, with support from LAL (Lebanese Alternative Learning), Terra introduced a new online learning initiative called “Tabshoura.” This platform is completely in line with the Lebanese Curriculum and “Lalmoudaress,” and it features a collection of resources designed for educators.
Life Skills – Mentorship Program
The English Language Unit conducted its Mentorship Initiative Program in collaboration with the volunteer section of McKinsey & Co. This initiative is aimed at seventh-grade students at the Bar Elias center, concentrating on instructing them in crucial life abilities, including self-care, understanding finances, future planning, and enhancing their conversational English skills.
Kolibri Program
Beginning in April 2024, through a partnership with the volunteer division of McKinsey & Co., Terra launched a new digital learning program called “Kolibri” as part of its educational framework. “Kolibri” is an adaptable set of open solutions specially developed to support learning for the half of the world without Internet access. Centered around an offline-first learning platform that runs on a variety of low-cost and legacy devices, the “Kolibri Product” includes a curricular tool, a library of open educational resources, and a toolkit of resources to support training and implementation in formal, informal, and non-formal learning environments.
Room to Read
Room to Read, in collaboration with Lost Organizations and Terra, has maintained the operation of the established libraries at both locations (Libraries were set up and made available starting November 1, 2023). Lebanese students utilize these libraries in the morning, while our students access them in the afternoon.
MABS Annual Health Campaign
MABS (Syria Diversity Support Program) organizes an annual health campaign that emphasizes eye health and vision.
Solar Power System at Bar Elias Facility
With assistance in funding and technology from Sopowerful, Terra set up a 30kw solar power system at the Bar Elias facility. This installation successfully met all the energy needs of the center.
